Holes found in Wolfowitz's style
World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz may be dedicated to freeing the world from poverty - but he seems unable to afford a new pair of socks.
Mr Wolfowitz's sartorial deficiencies were revealed when he took his shoes off while visiting a mosque in Edirne, western Turkey.
Both of the grey socks sported holes with his big toes peeking through.
The last World Bank annual report, for 2006, puts the president's salary as of 1 July, 2005, at $391,440 (£200,279).
Mr Wolfowitz was in Turkey on a two-day visit that included a meeting with Prime Minister Reycep Tayyip Erdogan.
Mr Wolfowitz strongly backs Turkey's bid to join the European Union.
On his trip he also met homeless men at a shelter in Istanbul who are being helped by a World Bank-financed scheme.
In an earlier sartorial foray in the media, in the Michael Moore film Fahrenheit 9/11, Mr Wolfowitz was seen to spit on his comb before running it through his hair ahead of a television appearance.

oh, man, that IS embarrassing. I encourage the sock-sending. We can sign it Love, Munche (and connect it with the Scream in a completely tasp-like way). After all, what would Nunn do?

yeah, this is a quality piece of news. something tells me, though, that wolfowitz opted to be unlisted in the beautiful telluride directory...
Maybe they were his favorite pair of socks... I become quite attached to my lavendar foot gear, and am most distressed when the maternal unit sees fit to dispose of some violet socks on the grounds that they are threadbare.
oh, he definitely is listed in the directory.
and I bought the socks/packing stuff tonight.

It won't let me update the blog, something about beta or not being beta and upgrading accounts? If anyone wishes to offer any insight it would be much appreciated. For once, I actually have something to "blog" and I'm becoming very frustrated. I now remember why I vehemently prefer written ( we're talkin pen and paper) to technological correspondence. you can still sign in without the beta google account nonsense... when you click on the "UPDATE the blog" link on our page, it'll take you to the blogger home page. At the top, in dark blue, there are two choices: New Blogger or Old Blogger. Click on old blogger and you should still be able to log in like before, fingers crossed. let me know how it works out!
oh, an update on the socks thing
apparently some vendor gave our fellow tellurider 12 pairs of socks b/c of said holes...
